  • CGS system (centimeter grams second and calories).

For the pleasure to be pedantic, the proper CGS energy unit is the erg, not calorie.

But indeed, even in France, home of the metric, you’ll find people using some customary unit (Calories, or pounds) and even some US units like inches for computer-screen and feet for powered airplanes altitude, and then a shit ton of approximation

  • Another factor is that the EU doesn’t necesarily want to take the UK back.

The Brexit, and other anti-EU movement in Europe do not come out of nowhere, there is a lot of issue with how the EU works, and some fundamental disagreement between members (and/or political parties within member states) on how should the Europe evolve (Just a big free-trade area, or a continent sized nation with a real political power and geopolitical weight), this is the context behind Macron talking about a Multi speed Europe

A big question is whether we should take new members right now (including Ukraine/Turkey/UK) or deal on the institutional issue and agree in which direction we want to move together rather than taking more people

  • Bullshit jobs are another issue, it’s well paid jobs, sometimes very well paid but whithout an objective way to quantify what they do. Think about the manager who organizes workshop on improving communication between team in a company or the person who does long post on Yammer to praise the company for their green transition as from today there is charging stations on the parking and directors will be given a Tesla rather than a Mercedes and other executive will be given an e-bike rather than a train card.

The don’t really feel like they do something complex (or linked to there training) but just use common sense to do basic tasks. Unfortunately, these are still necessary in a large structure

  • From a larper perspective (so way more immersive than acting, and I played in amateur theatre and short movies) no.

Everybody understands that we need a villain for a story (even the Barbie movies has to break the Barbietopia tomake a fun movie) and being a villain on set (or in game) doesn’t mean you’re one in real life. A good larp villain need to be a fundamentally nice person, and take care of other players while insulting/torturing/assinating others.
