I got VR to work super smoothly with the new NVIDIA driver, on Wayland + KDE, using Alvr wireless. I can even monitor in real-time a project in development in Godot. I’m officially done with windows.

I’m actually really impressed by how smooth it is, especially since I use ALVR wireless on my home network, with an NVIDIA. It does require some tweaking but once it works it goes really well. I’ve tested 4-5 games and it’s super smooth. Better yet, I can use my quest to monitor and play projects directly in Godot while I develop them! It’s awesome. Goodbye forever windows. I already have 555 since I’m actually on Nobara, not sure it would have work with the previous driver.

I don’t understand your VR reference, but I need to say it: yesterday I got VR working on Fedora!!! Like almost perfectly. Even for monitoring development in Godot! To me this is the final nail in window’s coffin, deleting it today.

So, are schools expected to teach kids how to wipe their ass because they might have dumbfuck parents? Are you seriously expecting the school to teach every fucking basic things of life because bad parenting is a thing? Giving these kids a few hours of forced break from their phone is actually the best thing a school can do.

School is not social services and it does not replace a family.

Do you have any idea what a teacher’s job is? Stupidly, and I mean really stupidly underpaid jobs where you work twice the hours you get paid and have to deal with tons of entitled idiots, kids and adults, who, like you expect school to take care of everything. Schools teaches kids a lot of things, read, write, maths, geo, etc., but it can’t replace parents. I use to teach in high school, long ago, never fucking again. You want schools to do more? Start paying teacher like you pay doctor, lawyer, dentist or even construction workers and then we’ll talk.

Schools are not replacement for parents.

I’m starting to think I’m some kind of Linux Genius because I’ve installed Nobara, clicked on “yes” when it asked me if I wanna install the driver and voilà. Never had an issue except steam flickering but I really don’t care.

No need to be an asshole and no need to presume I’m stupid. My kids dont have any tablet, we monitor screen/tv time and they play with my phone from time to time. That’s enough for at least until they’re 12. Every recent study shows that kids spend way too much time staring at screen… It should be less then one hour a day, we keep it under two. I teach to young adult and this generation is litteraly addicted to their phone. Most have a 6 minutes attention spam and get anxious if they can’t look at their phone for more then 10 minutes. Lot’s of my friends kids have their own device and the parents keeps fighting with them over screen time. You do what you want, I’ll keep my way.

The best tablet for a kid is no tablet. Screen time is a serious issue, dont mess with your kid’s brain.
