For the record, I (an engineer) test my own designs (both installation and performance) and sometimes fab them myself to identify pain points, something I encourage for all engineers.

Not as clever as a machinist when it comes to techniques for manufacturing, but I generally try to avoid the need for such techniques if I can. But sometimes it’s necessary.

I was an electrician to pay for school in Manhattan, it was fucking awesome meeting all these dudes and ladies from all walks of life, truly a melting pot. I worked under a quality-centric Rasta, who answered to a way-overworked foreman from long island, we would all be fighting some days, laughing together some days and always getting shit done.

I don’t miss how much my fucking feet or shoulders hurt after being on ladders all day, 50 stories up where the wind fuckin’ gallops (till windows thankfully get installed), but I got so many stories and good/bad times out of the job.

I miss NYC, tell you the truth.

Might be a cool opportunity to build cohesion even. What if we (in consult with the Lakota whose land it annually is) build in a few cool people from other tribes too (e.g. chief Seattle, and others from all over the country). That could make it feel more like a monument to all of us.

Where did you get that info? Cops in LA NYC & Seattle (all places I’ve lived) have very high starting salaries, besides all the excellent benny’s like double pay for anything over 4hrs OT work per day, zero dollar PPO insurance, etc…

Alabama has a law on the books banning dominoes on Sundays. Every state and even the federal govt has laws in place which can be abused, even if only until a judge prevails. “One can beat the rap, but not the ride”… How about beating the ride, too?

Well that’d require (among other things) a simplified set of laws, clear structure, with the goal of adhering to the spirit, not the letter of the law. The result can be expected to be faster trials, reduced lawyer workloads, and all the reduction in costs that come with that.
