  • Saw videos/articles online that this was the “end of gamedev” or whatever.

While patents for games are shit, theyve been around a long time and are hard to enforce. Palworld made it incredibly easy for one of the most ruthless companies to go after them. I expected they waited to see the final game before taking action, and until palworld made a ridiculous amount of money.

I’ve worked on Pokemon clones that are commercially available, and while they didn’t sell as much as palworld, they took a bit more care designing around stuff

  • Our government is far from great, plenty of shit to criticize. But poivrière is just a corporate shill. The fact they put him at the head of the conservative party tells you everything you need to know about conservatives. He even tried to make a Trump out of himself and start bringing name calling and personal attacks into politics. They want to go bold like Trump and gaslight the political laws everyone follows but them, especially the unwritten ones.

Canadians better show up next election and remember more than just this.

  • Youre forgetting they get to decide what the excel looks like. Even if it costs them 5$ per person to get 1$ from them, all they need to show is the excel with employee costs going down to call it profit. The expenses paid out to friends and politicians “need to be spent anyway” so it’s not reallt “a loss”.

You should see the P&L of these companies and how they twist themselves into knots making the line go up

“one fraudulent company from India”. Which part of this being Amazon’s walk out technology makes it not big tech, or a “weak ai story”?

AI is turning out to be a lot less promising than we thought, unless new breakthroughs are made the models are plateauing or even getting worse, at least relative to the amount of energy they consume… And companies like openai are in rush to sell you the idea for trillions of dollars before everyone realises the limits. Same as amazon trying to sell us Ai powered shopping.
