I suppose that is true. Intel seems to think so as well as their low power n100 is about the performance of a 1500x.

Sure, not much per gen, but if you compare say a 1700x vs the current 9700x, you are roughly looking at a 3x improvement in single and multicore performance increase.
Well ACC works on linux, including VR, using proton. This probably will to unless it is using some form of broken copy protection.
Ok, I see where you are coming from. I agree that it is a niche product category and I don’t understand what Meta and Apple see in AR & VR and am real confused why Apple of all companies decided to enter it like this. They usually avoid niche products. I enjoy VR occasionally and think it is great, but not enough to put hundreds of millions into it.
From what I see Valve is probably the only one taking a proper approach. They have a platform and hardware for it and support it, but aren’t really going from the mountain tops yelling this is the greatest next thing. To be fair they have been supporting it since , what 2015ish.
Surgeons are already trialing using them with surgery. Additionally I’d use it for video consumption, but not at that price. A portable movie theater sounds cool.
Just because me or you don’t have a personal use for something doesn’t mean they have “no use case”.
A lot of developers bought these. I’d classify the Apple Vision Pro as an early adopter type product right now. Hardware capabilities look impressive, but software has rough edges from what I have read. I don’t think Apple really has a feel where this device is going to go yet either.
That is my understanding. Additionally I have seen no evidence that it is actually enforced either. You could get Ghost of Tsushima for $59.99 on steam and for like $51.xx on another site using keys. Same happened with forbidden west.
With what you shared and another commenter mention computer glasses, I decided to order a few colors of safety glasses and I adjusted my monitors temperature. Thanks for sharing, it has been helpful.
Thanks for your input. This gave me the idea of changing the color temperature of my monitor. This should help for now till I get some glasses. I have opted to get a few of the safety glasses in different colors mentioned in another message to try out.
I generally do as well, but right even on the lowest brightness it has been an issue for me and I am planning to visit a friend who lives at high altitude and has a WALL of windows in the living room and avoiding everything is problematic. Just overall seems brighter there and I always have problems there. I am just wondering if those kinds of glasses in red, yellow or some other color would have a better experience than sunglasses would.
That is a good idea. I will have to try that. I had used some yellow goggles a while back when I was bike riding, but I wasn’t have a sensory overload where everything bothers me then. I did notice that while everything seemed brighter, my eyes didn’t react as if it was. A quick search at a local store has yellow for under 10. I don’t see red, which I am a bit more curious about as I haven’t tried them. The advantage of “medical” is I can get them in prescription lenses(and styles), but I only need those for distance as I am nearsighted.
It can be fast in one test and slow in 49 on one generation and on another generation it could be faster on 10 and slower 40. Just the nature of complex software supporting various generation of hardware.
It is definitely Nouveau. NVK is just the Vulkan side of it. NVK is in a experimental level. I personally would not run it daily yet, ignoring the lack of some video features and dlss in games. They have made huge strides in the last couple years with it though,
Edit: He has been posting videos for a while now running NVK, btw.
Nouveau doesn’t support power/load reporting yet. Some games will work better than others. Just because it is comformant does not mean it will be fast either. Comformance comes first then optimizations.
That said, it could still be running on the wrong gpu, but i don’t know. My experience when I’ve tried it on my 4080 hasn’t been mind blowing performance, but much better than before all this work started landing.
I get asked if I can do a favor all the time. I am like what are you wanting first. Not about to agree until I know.
iPad needs this way more than iPhone as a platform. Not saying iPhone doesn’t need it, just that the benefit is bigger on iPad. Both need to be opened up worldwide, not just in the EU.
I agree. If anything this is going to put pressure on the EU DMA to crack down on Apple. Apple is using their position to effect competition in Europe and this is the result. Free elsewhere and costs money in the EU.
I will just say it uses an ARM A5 which was introduced in 2011. It is 32bit processor which could be problematic as most linux distros are moving or have moved to 64-bit. And most importantly only has USB2.0 ports.
Most of the handheld benchmarks have been 3% or 4% higher compared to the Steamdeck at 15 watts, which often is a 1 to 4 FPS difference. This would explain why Valve isn’t in a hurry for a Steamdeck 2. If you plan of playing on battery, then that is what you’ll probably running around that if you plan on playing a while. The main advantage of these newer chips is when used plugged in.
I don’t like it either. Don’t need an 18cm big button.
