  • I remember buying tickets for all day event concerts in the 90’s that were absolutely amazing for between $20 and $50. Went to every Ozzfest from 94-99 and the most I spent on a ticket was $35.

Now those lineups would cost $500+, and for what? Some added light shows? There is less equipment needed now than ever before. Audio modeling is incredible. What once required a massive pedal board and post processing done in a huge computer can be accomplished by a Helix stomp and a competent audio engineer with a laptop and a few other systems. FRFR speakers are cheaper than ever and sound better as well. The “this has gotten more expensive” line is a crock of shit.

Tickets should have scaled with inflation. This is just the next iteration of record company greed. We knew it was happening with physical music sales but now with Spotify and Apple Music they can’t gouge at that level. Line must go up, so it’s happening with concerts.

  • I don’t understand it, either. But I realized it’s not my burden as a cis person. What is my burden is accepting and appreciating everyone for who they are, no matter what part of the LGBT+ spectrum they fall.

In the late 90’s, the battle was for my gay buddies. I remember one dude and his dad beat up a friend of mine. We knew he was gay and likely the dad found him and his son doing what gay people do and instead chose to beat my friend up. We went back to his house and threw rebar concrete through their windows and smashed up their cars. Statue of limitation is up, so it doesn’t matter about talking about it. Was also 15 at the time.

People who hate and commit acts of violence against others deserve what happens to them. Fuck those people who can’t accept someone because they feel like a prisoner in their own body. Did my fair share of shoving over the “I hate gay” crowd and will gladly fight these next group of assholes.

  • My kids noticed physical extremes before anything. Of course they would have to point it out to me as loud as possible.

We were in the grocery store, and my three year old says, as loud as he can, “DAD! Look at that huge guy! He must eat A LOT of FOOD!”

    Damnit, kid…

  • The stupidest HR thing I dealt with involved an employee who had genuine mental issues and he always had the “everyone is out to get me”. He was African American, and would play that card constantly. The thing was, our little lunch group had a black woman and she kept telling him to knock that shit off.

HR decided that since we were all white and he is playing the minority card, someone had to go to avoid the lawyer issue as he perceived a bias towards him. Then we get a call about how HR was very sorry, and then suddenly he stopped following us to lunch and taking pictures of us while eating.

Someone in HR did some digging before firing everyone saw that I was a combat veteran and it immediately became a battle of which protected class is more protected. Turns out the combat veteran was and his dumbass said something about “he is a veteran and I don’t like that!”

I hate HR because they were going to fire us over someone else stalking us, taking pictures, and making up stuff that no one could confirm. He eventually got the help he needed after a complete breakdown. Ran into him at the grocery store and he apologized for everything.
