Adhd is actually pretty hard to do this with compared to Autism. Like Newton building hidden networks in his house to avoid interacting with people - yep that’s autistic af. But adhd is a lot more difficult to determine.

In saying that I do think Leo was likely neurodivergent in some way, and adhd does fit. In our own way, a lot of adhders are polymaths because of how we often cycle through interests, slipping in and out of hyperfocus, picking up various skills along the way.

People have all kinds of personal reasons for keeping their distance from others, which are all valid of course. However as a neurodivergent person myself who also experiences this freezing out from others, I can’t help but think it’s linked to the fact that they’ve clocked me as different. Often people are motivated by building social capital and I don’t have much of that so I feel like people think there’s just no real benefit to connecting with me.

How much time have you got? I guess the biggest factor is that referendums are hard to pass in Australia, especially when the campaign becomes partisan. And this one was VERY partisan. But also Australia has a particular type of racist ignorance when it comes to our First Nations Peoples and our colonial history in general. We're now currently the only settler colonial nation that has not recognised its First Nations Peoples in their constitution. Settler colonialism is not a competition, but if it was Australia kind of wins the gold. I say that as a white Australian.

As an autistic person this technology could actually allow me to access the community without being overwhelmed. This is revolutionary and would change my life.

I’m honestly surprised by this because doesn’t Finland have like one of the best public education systems in the world? I’ve always thought strongly funded and accessible education is like the antidote to fascism, but it seems it’s much more complex than that. Fascists just always know how to push the right buttons to exploit people’s fears.

Politics aside I would say the connotation here is that this person isn’t very intelligent. I don’t mean that as a statement on their intelligence but instead that Joe Rogan falls into the category of anti-intellectual, low bar entertainment. For me personally the momentum of the neurodiversity movement makes me hopeful that society can change to be more inclusive and accepting of neurodivergent people. I’m also hopeful that a lot of the normative structures that have hurt so many groups of people will continue to be challenged and society becomes more accepting of all forms of diversity.

As someone who just submitted an article for review I am gobsmacked by how brazenly the authors have done this. The absolute disregard for integrity and the knowledge production process is astounding. But also the balls to just submit a paper like this without fear of the consequences says something more profound about the state of academia.

The person who was instrumental in the development of modern advertising was also involved in the notorious little Albert experiment. That really says a lot about how unethical modern advertising is on a psychological level. As a psych major myself I am constantly disgusted by how manipulative and toxic advertising is. It actually troubles me how we’ve essentially just accepted this as part of our society now.
