Well, not exactly. Those imperial units are all a unique measurement that one would have to learn to use. The SI prefixes meanwhile are simply powers of 10. Deca means 10, hecto means 100, kilo means 1000. Decameter literally means 10 meter. And so people just end up saying that instead, because it’s easier and conventional. But in some situation where you’re frequently dealing with 10s of meters it might be easier to use decameters.
The system also provides prefixes for extremely large or extremely small units. You’ll be hard pressed to find anyone referring to a ronnameter (10^27 meter). But it’s there if you ever need it, because it’s again just a power of 10. While megameter (1000km) is pretty much never used, megahertz is very common. SI simply provides a unified system and we can apply it in whatever way is most practical.
Hecto is used in NL for road marks. You’ll find a sign every hectometer on the highway. Makes it easy to tell where you are.

As much as Brexit was a stupid idea that’s hurt all parties involved, I find it hard to believe that the EU would deny any and all membership benefits for the UK purely out of spite. UK with pounds is still better for the EU than no UK at all.
It would almost certainly be a less favourable deal than before, but I’m sure the UK could negotiate some privileges for itself.

Very few people love exercise at first. It is a learned hobby. I recommend trying out different sports instead of just going to the gym, competition makes exercising a lot more rewarding.

Shortening words hasn’t been about saving SMS credit for a decade. It’s a way to communicate in casual, less formal tone. Without vocal flair you have to get creative to communicate emotions through text. Shortening words is just another tool in your arsenal, just like capitalization, emojis or literal tone indicators (like /s). It shows that you are very comfortable talking to someone when you are willing to forgo proper grammar and spelling. Just like we do in real conversations.
The younger generations have had online communication figured out since forever while older generations continue to be perplexed by it.
I seem to be getting along fine so far. Never asked before making a move, and I’ve never been asked by someone making a move. Would’ve rather ruined the mood. That’s how real life works. You feel things out, most of the time you get it right and have a fun evening, sometimes you get it wrong and make a wrong judgement call. Then you apologize and move on. I’ve been on both sides of the experience and it’s no big deal for anyone involved. Certainly no need to ruin anyones life over it.
Nonsense like this is the reason why more and more people stay single their entire life and avoid all human interaction. Social media has an extremely twisted view of how human interaction works, and expects people to at all times be able to judge exactly how the other person feels about things. Zero nuance involved.
You don’t know me, you have no idea what I’m like in real life, yet you believe you can judge my character based on just a couple of comments. That’s exactly my problem with these things. Extreme opinions without context. Let me share an excellent comment I had saved from a couple months ago, from a very similar situation concerning Vince McMahon (which, by the way, has been all but forgotten in the public consciousness already, as these things go):
It’s always pretty unfair and ridiculous, that people you have never even met somehow expect you to condemn an actual important person in your life over allegations that they, most of the time, are barely even familiar with themselves.
Just look at how many people ITT are seriously parroting Bixenspan-tier opinions about McMahon being a legitimate serial rapist, etc. when the only knowledge they have on the subject is something they read online……. or even more likely, an opinion they read from someone who read something about it online.
If you’re ready to say that you know more about the character of a man you’ve never met than a guy that’s worked with him for decades you should really start rethinking your weird parasocial relationships with tv characters.
Unfortunately none of this conversation even matters.
Luckily my girlfriend felt different about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, I’d hate to live where you do.
