The company insisted on only him, likely because he was a notorious skeptic who would be able to look past the sensationalism of the dinosaurs to let them know a realistic risk assessment. The dinner scene where he and Ellie criticize Hammond is exactly why they wanted him there.

Point being, no indication is actually given that he was smarter or more published than the others in his field, because that isn’t really what the insurance was after.

You’d need a central list, which would defeat the purpose of a decentralized system.

Or set it up so that when you share add community of an instance to your instance, it adds every community that community’s instance had indexed, which will very quickly populate all the major instances.

For example, Pinetab 2 was developed and tested with Wayland and is more stable on it. Plus way better touchscreen support.

It’s great on newer hardware, specially phones and tablets. For your 5 year old laptop, it likely is about the same as X11.

Sway is essentially i3 + Wayland, so it shouldn’t be a hard switch once X11 goes EOL.

Having run PostmarketOS on an old Samsung Galaxy tablet and now Arch on PineTab 2, Flatpak often works better than the native package manager. Especially with Wayland, many packages just work including touchscreen.

Oh God. For anyone thinking of doing this in the future, do not play with deer. If deer get scared, they will trample you. It’s all fun and games until a 100 lb animal starts stomping your child into the ground. Even a fawn that size could cause some serious injury to that child.

Having the device, I already tether the wifi. But it is indeed a compatibility issue: the old kernel drivers for the chip were janky and it’s doubtful how well they even worked the time. The code is apparently such a hot mess that the people who were working on it have stopped making progress. There is now skepticism that it will ever be fully functional.
