Oh man you missed the pinacle of Nokias phones. The possibilities of the N900 where endless back then. Emulators, IR Blaster, High Quality Camera (for back then), all the Linux software, free Wifi everywhere (Because everybody still used WEP and the N900 would crack the password in like 20 seconds) and so much more. The transreflective screen 800x480 worked incredibly well. Low power and still very good visibility, only in bright sunlight the colors were washed out. I always wondered why they never used this technology in modern devices.

Then the N9 which lacked some features, but was so handsome and user friendly. It had an OLED but also the Clear Black technology which prevented the screen from reflecting to much sunlight, making it readable in the sun even though it had much lower brightness than todays OLEDs.

Sadly all this was killed by Elop who came from Microsoft and tried to push Windows phone, slowly downgrading the amazing hardware till Nokias phone branch was dead.

Du panaschierst einen Teil deiner Stimmen, dann kreuzt du eine Liste an. Alle Stinmen die nach dem Panaschieren noch übrig sind werden nun ganz normal (von oben nach unten) auf die Liste verteilt.

Realistischerweise erreichen wir ein Mandat, das stimmt. Dafür braucht man nur etwas mehr als 0,6% der Stimmen. Für zwei sind es dann schon 1,5% (Ja das Wahlsystem ist wieder mal komisch). Richtig freuen würde ich mich wenn es sogar Lukas auf Platz drei reinschafft. Er macht schon länger Praktikum bei Patrick.

Ein Wiki Artikel wäre toll. Mit dem deutschen Wikipedia ist das nicht so einfach: Relevanzkriterien. Person -> Politiker -> International: Muss schon im Parlament sein oder gewesen sein. Den Vorteil haben nur alte Hasen und Patrick wird sich verdiente Zeit für seine Familie nehmen.

Schau dir doch einfach mal an, was Patrick Breyer im EU Parlament so alles erreicht hat zur aktuellen Amtsperiode. Wenn du auf dem Newsportal deiner Wahl nach ihm suchst solltest du einiges finden. Die breite Presse stürzt sich halt gern auf persönliche Sachen, gute Politik ist da eher ein Nebensatz und der Name Piratenpartei fällt dann in den Artikeln teils nicht mal mehr.

Ein Beispiel: Breyer hat die Sperrminorität gegen die Chatkontrolle organisiert (auch wenn das Thema leider noch nicht ganz vom Tisch ist) und hat auch erstmals auf das Thema aufmerksam gemacht. Nebenbei veröffentlicht er als einer der sehr wenigen (als einziger?) Politiker im EU Parlament alle Treffen mit Lobbybezug, damit man immer Transparent mitverfolgen kann wer Einfluss auszuüben versucht.

Die Nachfolger Anja Hirschel und Lukas Küffner kenne ich persönlich und kann für beide bürgen.

Über die Jahre haben die Piraten immer nur gute Politik gemacht, aller Presse zum Trotz. Deswegen unterstütze ich sie auch gern weiter.

Rank ist bezogen auf einzelne Speicherriegel, der muss es unterstützen und das Bios.

Channel ist bezogen auf die gleichzeitig genutzten Speicherriegel. Abhängig vom Mainboard kannst du Dual Channel oder Quad Channel nutzen, das fordert dann entsprechend viele Speicherriegel.

Generell ist wichtig, die Speichersticks richtig einzusetzen, damit man Dualchannel nutzen kann. Siehe Mainboard Handbuch. Aber die Gewinne werden schnell kleiner, schon Quad Channel bringt bei vielen Anwendungen praktisch nix gegenüber Dual Channel oder einen Dual Rank Riegel. Deswegen können einige Consumermainboards auch mit vier RAMriegeln nur Dual Channel.

Im Serverbereich gibt es auch Octorank RAMriegel und Quad und mehr Channel.

Mehr hochgetaktete Speichersticks sind generell besser als wenige mit hohem Rank.

Interesting. For the Nokia N900 there is Maemo Leste which also uses mainline Linux (+ a few patches they are working to mainline) and there everything works. Mind that works means in this case: Does what I want if I issue a number of console commands. However most of it by now even works via the GUI.

Keep in mind that Leste is a project by a few enthusiasts and writing drivers for undocumented hardware is a monumental task, writing GUI for a whole mobile OS is also complicated. So it is utterly astonishing, how far they got!

Sure because Error Code 0x8007057 tells you immediately how to solve the problem.

Linux error messages like error: kex_exchange_identification: client sent invalid protocol identifier "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.1" are completely arcane tough.

I support both systems. And Linux support is so much easier. Mostly in runs out of the box. If it runs I continues to do so and If you have an error you get a specific message like above.

With such a message you either:

• See right away how to solve the problem
• Search it online and get a specific solution for exactly you problem
• Or you can ask Experts for a solution for your specific problem.

With Windows: No systems runs out of the box, I always have to install additional software (7zip, sane browser, …) and also for anybody remotely privacy concerned have to adjust many settings (for which tools exist thankfully)

If an error occurs under Windows and I get a code like above:

• I can sometimes guess by my experience what the reason is and solve it.
• If not I search the error code and circumstances which lead to it online, then apply the 20 solutions presented one by one in hope one works
• Ask experts which ask me to run a bunch of diagnostic utilities because the error message does not tell you anything. (Yes by now I can also guess which utility could provide relevant information, but not because Windows told me)
• In a noticeable amount of cases the solution is: We can not determine the reason for the error, please reset everything (First a restart, then run this cleanup tool and if this doesn’t help just reinstall!)

Wird das hier problematisiert? Der Artikel ist sehr neutral gehalten und fasst zusammen, was Ricarda Lang auf ihrer Website veröffentlicht hat. Bzw. paraphrasiert es, denn der Text ist in etwas genauso lang. Sogar der Teil "Auf der Webseite betont die Grünen-Politikerin, dass sie neben der Abgeordnetenentschädigung und der Kostenpauschale keine weiteren Einkünfte habe. " ist dabei und unterstreicht, dass andere eben durchaus fragwürdige Nebeneinkünfte haben.

Weshalb ist der Artikel mit “Grünen-Chefin” getitelt? Weil sie nun mal das kurz und knacking veröffentlicht hat (oder lassen hat) und Zeitungen abschreiben. Das dann mit der Person zu verknüpfen ist halt wichtig für Menschen und Reichweite.

Symbian war in einer Sackgasse, also wurde ein neues System entwickelt. Maemo, dann Meego OS. Doch dann kam Microsoft und platzierte Stephen Elop bei Nokia.

Das Nokia N9, das erste Telefon mit dem Meego OS. wurde noch veröffentlicht, aber nur auf wenigen Märkten. In Deutschland, den USA, Canada und England kam es nie auf den Markt. Denn es sollten die “tollen” neuen Windows Phones verkauft werden. Ich erinnere mich an die überall war Werbung für die Lumia Geräte.

Dennoch verkaufte sich das N9 lange Zeit besser als alle Windows Phones zusammen weil das Betriebssystem einfach so gut war, und der Formfaktor auch. Doch ohne Updates war die Erfolgsgeschichte von Meego OS bald vorbei, und bald darauf auch die von Nokias Handysparte weil die Windows Phones sich immer noch nicht verkauften.

Puh die Energiebilanz zeigt ganz schön deutlich warum wir mehr auf Güter/Personenverkehr über die Schiene setzen sollten. Der Energiebalken für Schienenverkehr ist so dünn, man kann ihn kaum anklicken. Oder in Zahlen: 14TWh für Schienenverkehr, 383TWh für Personenstraßenverkehr, 182TWh für Güterstraßenverkehr.

SystemRescueCD kann ich auch empfehlen.

Hab auch mehrere ISOs auf meinem “Stick” (SSD) und meistens verwende ich die, weil z.B. Ubuntu doch mal Probleme mit sehr alter Hardware hat, oder mit sehr neuer, wo dann die RescueCD mit simpler Grafikausgabe doch stabil läuft. Bootet schnell, man hat alle wichtigen Grundsatztools zur Hand, wählt direkt beim Boot das Tastaturlayout (im Ausland ganz praktisch) und man ist direkt root. Normalerweise schlecht, aber für Reparatur perfekt, da will man ja gerade alles verändern können. Spart man sich das sudo.

An no, security updates can’t run in the background. If I sit a user in front of a PC, the PC has to be secure. Which means that the zero day exploits from a few days ago which are already exploited in the wild have to be fixed. Also yes, software for basic tasks and configuration till usability is reached is part of an operating system install. Otherwise you have to compare the time to install a barebones Linux (1 Minute) with a bare Windows install (still 30 minutes).

I currently use chocolatey for automation of software installs. But Libreoffice alone takes minutes to install on Windows even on fast PCs. If you know a better/faster tool I am happy to listen.

For me the 30 minutes to install is about right. After that I have usable Linux and an unusable Windows.

To get Windows to the same state:

• Add 5 Minutes for clicking trough the "Do you want to enable handwriting? ((( We just allow ourselves to collect samples of everything you write to “improve our recognition engine” )))
• Add 20-30 minutes of security updates (thankfully it got much faster with SSDs, before it could have been hours)
• Add 20-30 minutes of installing necessary software like an office suite, PDF Reader with basic functionality, 7zip. This is only 30 minutes because I spent hours automating the downloads and installs trough scripts.
• If it is my system or a company system: Add 20 minutes to go trough the settings of Win10Privacy to at least reduce the phoning home and to enable some necessary settings for working with the system like “Don’t restart at random times”
• Add 10 Minutes to remove the installed bloatware like People, Windows Maps, Windows Experience Host, …

In summary:
Linux requires 5 minutes attention and is ready after 30min.
Windows requires 40 minutes of attention and is somewhat ready after 2h30min. Even if I skip the privacy stuff its still at about 1h20min.

To be fair: On Windows and Linux I immediately install ublock to Firefox afterwards, on Linux I run a single apt command to install some more niche software which takes about 3 minutes on a fast network connection.

3,3 Milliarden für 1600 MW wäre schon fast ein Preis auf dem Niveau von Windkraft+Speichern für den selben Output. Wenn man Atommüll und so ignoriert. 3 Jahre Planung + 5 Jahre Bauzeit sind auch nicht so übel, Windparks brauchen zwar nur 3-6 Monate Bauzeit, aber dank massiver Bürokratie jede Windkraftanlage knapp 7 Jahre ab Planung.

Aktuell sind es bei Flamanville 3 aber ca 13,2 Milliarden und der Bau läuft seit 16 Jahren.

Ich verstehe ja die Botschaft. Aber auch durch den Klimawandel wird das Kontinentale Klima in München doch nicht plötzlich zum maritimen?

Its IDE is based on Scintilla. And it is very fast, even on an ancient PC it runs. It is specific for the programming language.

And here some advantages it has compared to a simple text editor:

• Autocomplete of all functions and many API functions of the OS
• Hints about parameters
• F1 Help for all functions by just placing the cursor on them
• Jumping to errors in the code
• Automatic backups of all the progress of your codes, no problem to backtrace even if you forgot to save or commit.
• Manage Projects (Groups of source codes and different targets)
• Well integrated debugger

I agree with you in many points. Most other IDEs I am forced to work with are horribly slow. Especially those which rely on electron. Sometimes they lack features every basic editor has by now.

This is to say: Good IDEs can exist and are a great benefit for the programmer. But modern IDEs often chase keyword features and use complex and bloated frameworks to achieve them. Sometimes even forgetting to add basic features which made IDEs a thing initially. An IDE should take almost no time to setup to your needs and should not hinder with complex operations which take seconds to run, it should only support in code creation and aim to make features like autocomplete show suggestions in milliseconds.

I can’t speak for the Nvidia issue. (Only that it is widely know that Nvidia actively works against Open source and only just has begun changing their stance, so Nvidia support is still poor on Linux. Their proprietary drivers aren’t great either. I stick to AMD since using Linux, they work great out of the box)

But the audio issue baffles me. Under Kubuntu with KDE I just klick on the Loudspeaker in the systray and choose the device. It even remembers it over unplugging and replugging devices.

Rgarding openssl: Thats the price you pay for freedom, you can change the system how you want, even into non working states ^^ BTW: You can repair such mistakes with a LiveCD even major ones like this.
