  • Commercials weren’t the only example I listed.

I consume as much media as anyone, a lot of gaming content, and I don’t recall seeing a single WoW ad in years, not on websites, youtube, or streaming, Maybe you see those ads because you play WoW or other mmos. I haven’t heard any streamers talking about it, no articles or memes outside of dedicated communities.

I’m not saying those things dont exist. I’m just saying, as a general consumer of gaming media, it really doesn’t come up nearly as often as it used to. It’s more niche now, less mainstream. Which, unfortunately, means the player base is less dynamic.

    I’d say “not quite.”

    (Slight spoilers ahead)

The A plot involves NFTs which was pretty lame.

But the B plot involved Bender returning to Mexico and reconnecting with his roots, which wasn’t bad, mainly because it didn’t depend on pop culture references. Danny Trejo was pretty good as a guest star.

    (Spoiler end)

I think the reason the pop culture references seem so tired now is because our lives are filled with people making fun of pop culture on social media/the internet. All the NFT jokes have been made already, like a year ago. The writers need to stick to original, engaging plots that don’t rely on criticizing pop culture or rehashing old plotlines.

  • No, the devs are being intentionally dishonest by pretending what was once the full game can still be considered as such. They have created so much more content for the game, you can no longer reasonably define the “base game” as the “full experience”. At this moment, if a person wanted to play rimworld in its entire and complete form, it would cost them over $100. There are no bundle deals, the game barely ever goes on sale, the devs are clearly trying to maximize profit, an action which would be met with judgement and criticism in any other circumstance, as it should.

Hot take alert: Wow another $30 dlc for a game that never goes on sale. How much are they charging for rimworld now? Oh yeah, $100, not including the new dlc, so let’s say $130 for an indie game with rampant balance issues and lazy graphics that were stolen from prison architect in the first place.

Dont get me wrong, the game can be really enjoyable at times. But the devs need a reality check. For the price they’re charging they need to offer way more.
