Wine is an awesome feat of engineering to be sure, but even the gold level compatibility Windows games dont always work out of the box on any linux distro without a bunch of tweaks, installation of drivers, windows DLLs etc etc. Its time consuming and people dont have time, thats a huge issue.

Another issue is when the inevitable distro update comes, you have a 50/50 chance of all those tweaks having to be done again (for each game) if something with the upgrade goes sideways. Even just updating wine itself can occasionally break things, and then you are back in the support forum looking for answers… for hours… instead of just playing the game. For slightly more advanced users I think Lutris is the way to go, you can configure the games yourself and launch them with various versions of wine or proton, and that seems to work pretty well in most cases.

The right answer is for game manufactures to make the games for Linux, so the right answer is to get Linux desktop market share up over 10%, thats the only way to force the issue.

seems like thats the crackocracker industry problem, they simply dont have any standards. I’ll grant you there may be some crackocrackers who actually have some skills… maybe, but if a patient has to go to 20 of them to find “that one good one”, then that industry is garbage

I would also point out that any pro quackocracker post you see here is the one time they might have helped someone just out of random chance, those people are loud and tell everyone how great their quackocracker is. Its simple confirmation bias, they have a sample size of one, themselves, this is not how data works.

Not only can they not prescribe anything (because they are play doctors not real ones) but they have no access to the medical equipment (other than xrays which can literally only tell you if you have a broken bone) so they have Zero ability to diagnose whats really wrong with you, or your back, or anything really. Its all guesswork for them and the few people on here who say “quackocracked hepped me!!” is the one time they get it right out of 10 or 20 failures.

This is the entire problem with quackocrackers, they have no ability to diagnose any illness or disease. So people who think they just have a back ache and go to a quackcracker instead of a real dodctor are delaying getting a proper diagnosis, so then if they happen to have something more serious like cancer, they’ll essentially be sacrificing their own life by going to quackocracker instead of finding out whats really wrong.

On android I find its also a good idea to have a system wide ad blocker solution because android and all their apps are so inundated by ads, so I recommend dns66 (which can be found on fdroid) which has multiple blocklists you can subscribe to. This will cover some ads thats are built directly into apps and almost all ads that would appear in websites on a browser. This helps a lot since some apps will open a browser window for -reasons- and they sometimes have their own internal browser or they will just use chrome by default, not respecting your default browser choice, and in those cases you cant have ublock installed to protect you and those pages are so ad-overloaded that finding what you are looking for is next to impossible.
