  • I didn’t like SSRIs. I found the effects for me to be very, very marginal, and the side effects–weight gain, sexual dysfunction–to be very unpleasant. The Zyprexa I was given (an atypical antipsychotic, I believe) was even worse for weight gain and sexual dysfunction. I preferred bupropion, which had neither side effect. The effects were still very marginal, IMO.

A lot of people have a REALLY hard time getting off SSRIs if they it doesn’t work, if the side effects are too serious, etc. Some people report ‘brain zaps’, and serious withdrawal. Like, really bad. It can take months for the withdrawal symptoms to ease or go away completely.

If it’s for depression, I’d look into TCMS. It’s probably more expensive up front, but supposedly you can have significant improvement in 50 or fewer sessions.

  • Couple big problems -

To start, this is a morning routine, not a mourning routine. While it is true that I often mourn the morn, dude needs to learn how to spell.

Second, if you’re up at 5:30, and not drinking coffee until 7am, and then have 3 hours of focused work, that right there is 10am. Your morning is supposed to be ‘won’ by this point, and you still haven’t gotten to the weight training part of your morning.

  • I’ve known entirely too many alcoholics that have had too many wake-up and come-to-Jesus moments, only to go back to drinking as soon as the immediate crisis is over. Change only comes when the alcoholic wants to change for their own reasons, not due to external factors.

Livers are a limited resource. Wasting a donor’s liver on a person that us is unlikely to stop drinking–despite their protestations–means that another person doesn’t get one. It may seem like a cruel calculus, but it’s the only reasonable way to ration a scarce resource. It doesn’t matter if alcoholism is a disease, or you think that it’s a moral failing; the end result is the same.

  • Huh?

I loved Fallout 4, and I still play it. I’ve got it installed on this computer, but I don’t have Skyrim installed. I’m not as attached to the London mod for it, TBH.

Can’t say a lot about what Bethesda is going to do with the next Elder Scrolls games, but I’d love to see a return to the more complicated skill trees and level advancement that they used in Morrowind and Daggerfall. I also really loved the limitless number of randomly generate dungeons in Daggerfall, and how it took years (in real-time) to walk across the continent, but that’s probably not what most people want now.

  • Soft-oily. Avacado anything is right out for me. Mayo on almost everything is gag-inducing. Tripe has a deeply unpleasant texture, even when it’s in something that’s otherwise enjoyable (like tripe congee).

It’s taken a while, but I’ve managed to expand the foods that I enjoy fairly widely, but I still mostly live off plain yogurt, frozen berries, raw oats, and almonds. Any time I go out to an ‘ethnic’ restaurant, I try to have something new and different. So far, one of the best choices has been zurek (a sour/fermented rye-based Polish soup with uncured sausage and egg.).
