  • Survivor of a TBI checking in.

    I thought about this a bit actually in my earlyish recovery, though I never did confirm my thoughts with any doctors who might know more about the mechanics I was interpreting me perceptions of.

    In summary, I don’t think it would help (for those with injuries exactly identical to mine*). The problem as I constructed it in my mind, was;

    1. A problem with my ability to interpret balance from my senses.
    • I could still sense all the things I could pre-injury, but the signals would travel down the wires of my body with different kinds of “noise” than my brain had learned to adapt to for the first 20+ years of my life.
    1. A problem with my ability to control the fine-motor aspects of all my balance-affecting body parts.
    • The relative position and momentum of every moving and not-moving part of your body contribute to your overall “state” of balance. Now my control to each part of my body had (similar to the sensing syste’s “wires”) different levels of noise to adapt for than it has taught itself to deal with so far.

    I think a system like the Exoskeleton referred to here would probably fix or at least greatly reduce the second problem, but the first problem would require, at the very least, a “processor” that could replace the thing that determines my balance from all my various senses (my brain, at least one part of it).

  • I think it’s important to acknowledge that yes, the government absolutely does have shadow organizations that violate American citizens constitutional rights. No one is disputing that.

    The point that most people here are trying to help you notice is that there is help. A professional , trained therapist can help. A therapist, if they’re at all qualified, won’t dispute your stances in regard polygyny etc.

    What follows includes some assumptions of who you are and I want to acknowledge that these might not look like your struggles. Guessing by analogy of my own experience, you feel a kind of helpless. You understand the situation as it is and you recognize that it is irrational to hope blindly that your understanding is wrong and tomorrow everything is just going to be better. A therapist isn’t paid to tell you that you are seeing your situation incorrectly, a therapist is paid to learn what you tell them you understand the world is like and help you find steps you can take from the position you’re in now.

    The ideology you identify with is associated with a tendency toward terrorism / violent actions. That is what everyone here is trying to warn you about. You sound like what a rational person becomes in hopeless situations. Seek a therapist not because they will change your mind but instead so that someone who will work to understand how you’re rational and help you take rational steps from that place to one less hopeless.

    I think “highly developed morals” refers to, for example, internally consistent morals. Calling them highly developed shouldn’t be understood to imply the morals are “better” or more “right”, only that they are consistent. My neurotypical family members have morals and they will preach those morals to literal death. When actual circumstances of life require a sacrifice of them to live within the morals they preach though, they have no difficulty imagining a special exception to those morals.
