There is actually an app that will let you remotely view and start/stop the printer without the use of the VPN.
My wife often works from home and is tech savvy so I have no problems running prints and checking in remotely and I often hear of others doing the same; however…
I would not recommend doing it without someone handy. Just my two cents. It’s not that someone could hack in - it’s that you are dealing with temps in the hundreds of degrees Celsius. While I don’t recall of these things catching fire, the thought that it could burn my house down has more than once crossed my mind.
OP after I got my printer and got it printing (using a thumb drive for files for a bit) I setup a Raspberry PI running Octoprint on my network. Basically the printer hooks to the Pi and it serves as a print server of sorts. You can then send files to the Pi, configure it to watch your prints remotely (with a camera) and do some pretty cool things with it.
There are tons of videos on YouTube of course. Just something to think about.
Felt this way with Skyrim when it was released, then BOTW, then Horizon: Forbidden West, then Elden Ring….
Like a dog in a park that sees a squirrel 😂
lol yeah, nothing wrong with standing outside the door or stall necessarily.
Just standing with your nose ‘touching the door’ falls into the area of getting a bit creepy.
We had a new intern with zero social skills at my company a few years ago. He reminded me of a much younger version of Milton from Office Space.
Well, when he would go to the bathroom, either the single occupant ones or even ones that had multiple stalls: If it was occupied he would stand outside the door (or even a stall) like an inch away from it not moving just frozen waiting for the person to leave.
Was the craziest thing anyone had ever seen.
Sorry, I like my water with 100% Extra Fart
One of two explanations:
It’s where they keep Gozer trapped and the camera is for security reasons. Probably got a proton pack aimed at it out of sight.
Samara from The Ring is down there and the camera is hooked to a monitor so people can view and have fun times in 7 days.
I live in an HOA (obligatory Fuck them)
They put up numerous bat boxes on poles around the common wooded area and a large retention pond right about the time Covid started.
Main reason is it’s free insect killers. We have tons of pests anyway being so close to a wooded area and a lake + the retention pond we have and the added bats help to clear some of them out.
As for the noise, no you really don’t hear them here. All the frogs are the loudest things heard of a night.
“See these guys hanging? This is what happens to whistleblowers. Any questions?”
For the longest time, the agent just sits in silence. Finally, he manages, “That’s a hell of an act. What do you call it?”*
And the father says, “The Aristocrats!”*
Missionary + lean forward and eat ass.
Its truly a win win for some of us filthy heathens.
You apparently never saw the South Park episode.
They’ll probably just double/triple the price of new parts now if you want to use them.
I think the other user pretty much nailed it about the enclosure. Unless you are printing materials that require high heat it is not necessary.
Now if you are in a very dusty environment you might consider one just to avoid the hassle.
However you also may want to look online, there are some simple and fairly inexpensive pop up enclosures that work very well. I have been using one for a while now with mine and I print ABS pretty regularly. I just tore all the electronics out of my printer and printed a control box for it (external) to the outside of the enclosure.
I shut it off on mine because I have a personal phone and a work phone (both apple) and anytime I have the two near each other it goes off with that insanely annoying bell.
As for the child protection issue, I thought Content and Privacy restrictions allowed parents to block adding new contacts on their kids phones or does this override it? That to me is the simplest solution.
Ah thanks.
As always, the devil is in the details.
I did read the article but maybe I am confused so feel free to clarify for me.
The article states:
‘Apple extends Emergency SOS via satellite for an additional free year for existing iPhone 14 users’
So the implication is it isn’t free after that time. What about other iPhone users? Is this free for everyone irregardless who has any model iPhone or just the 14?
I did the same. Was totally confused about the Geode.
The bong I got though.
