  • Thank you for posting my original comment! I am unable to see it. Not even when I’m logged out. How did you see it?

Oh, I can see it now, too. Looks like he unbanned me. Edit: Nope, now it says I’m banned again, but I can see that comment. I’m so confused. I couldn’t see the comment before, but it also didn’t appear as “removed” in the modlog.

I’m going to go find my comments in that community to see if there’s any truth to what he says. I do have pretty bad memory. Maybe I commented more than I remember.

EDIT: I found them all and posted them in the post body above. It’s nothing like he makes it out to be. It was two posts, and I was replying to what other people were saying about non-OC. How is participating in a discussion about the community “creating drama” or “stirring shit up”?

  • They were removed for jumping between multiple threads and stirring shit up

STOP with this fucking narrative. You liar. You giant fucking liar. Prove it. Post screenshots. Unban me so the world can see my comment history. You are really pissing me off now. [EDIT: You don’t need to. I found all of my comments and shared them above.]

These lies are so bad I’m half a fucking second from reporting you to the lemmy.world admins.

Going around randomly calling users assholes and saying fuck this community and just stirring shit up left right and center?

Again, you are taking things out of context. I posted my mod history right in this thread. “Going around randomly calling users assholes”. Again with the lies.

Childish and immature behavior that is openly display throughout the entire of their modlog and posting history.

I challenge anyone to read my entire post history and see what kind of person I am. You are slandering me. Meanwhile, I have stated nothing but facts this entire time.

  • I edited my reply. Read it again if you haven’t yet. At first I thought it was another DM from you, and didn’t add as much as I would have liked. I was replying from my inbox. But now I see you’ve found this thread. So I edited my comment to add more. It contains a call to action now: Unban me to prove I “jumped from thread to thread” creating drama. There was no jumping. There was no drama. There was only me pointing out to a couple confused people that your posts were not photos taken by you.

Not even that! I was replying to other people who said they also thought this community was just for OC, or should be.

  • You could have replied to any of those comments. My posting of a comment was communication. You are the one who chose not to engage.

“jumping from thread to thread” is a bullshit narrative. I’ve only ever commented a couple times in that community. Like I said, it appeared in my feed every day. Commenting a couple times over a period of days isn’t “jumping from thread to thread”. Holy shit. Why do you have to lie to defend youself?

    numerous comments across numerous posts

Numerous? Two is “numerous”? Prove it. Post screenshots. I can’t see my own comments because I’m banned. [I figured out how to] I would be very surprised if I mentioned it more than twice. Or unban me and let the whole world see! I promise I will never comment again. [I have since posted every comment I’ve ever made in the post above.]

And I don’t feel that letting confused people know that your post isn’t OC is anything wrong to do. And if I felt the need to do that, I don’t think it’s wrong to and also mention I don’t happen to like the paradoxical name. You chose to create the paradoxical name. You chose not to self-identify non-OC. Over and over people got confused, and I set a couple people straight. I finally got sick of seeing these kinds of comments and called you out on it. You deserved it, and I wasn’t even mean about it.

Content that did not need a tag as was specified in the sidebar

So you get to make up bullshit rules, leading to a ton of people being confused, and I’m the problem!?

    unnecessary drama

Apparently it was very necessary. Thank you for finally adding Rule #4. My actions were not about you. My actions were about eliminating the confusion of a whole bunch of Lemmy users.

  • The mod attempted to fix the rules to cater to an obsessive pedant (you), and you’re STILL raging?

He changed the rules after I made this post. Same with the title edits. Or, at least, while I was writing it. This all happened at the same time. You’re narrative is all backwards.

The fact that he added the “Not OC” rule means my comment was justified, and my ban was not!

Goddamn, I don’t know how I missed this when I first replied. I wouldn’t have responded so abashedly. You’ve made a ton of false assumptions in this thread. I’m editing my replies to you to fix this oversight and remove my praise.

  • or this person has been on this crusade for so long they’re exhausted at this point?

This was the first time I commented about the mod’s behavior. (Or rather lack of behavior, as in, lack of clarifying to anyone that his posts were not OC.) The only other time I mentioned the community’s rule about allowing non-OC was to point out to another person that the rules specifically allow it, when they were complaining about non-OC. Although, I did agree it was an odd rule given the community name.

Those are the only two times I’ve ever talked about the community or its name. I happen to browse “All” most of the time, and I was seeing ITAP every day, and seeing unanswered questions about his posts over and over again. There was no crusade, and I don’t appreciate you assuming there was.

God, I would never have made this post if I had been on a crusade and finally got banned. That would be ridiculous.

  • To be fair, I made this post minutes after my comment got banned. How fast should a person have to let something go? What’s the point of this community if not to vent about moderator actions when they happen?

obsessive and excessive… you came with like 18 spreadsheets and a slideshow…

You just described my whole life as an autistic person. :( I disagree that I’m “obsessed” about it. I simply wanted to provide the facts and also try to present the real me. Proactively defending my own log of mod actions against me… Well, people like to look at modlogs in these posts, so I figured I’d nip it in the bud. I’m sorry for being overly prepared, I guess.

so I assume you did feel guilty for it.

Yes, indeed. I felt guilty about it the other day, too, but not enough to say anything or delete my comments, but your comment made me more self-reflective about it. I struck-out the comments instead of deleting them because I didn’t want to come across like I was trying to hide anything from this post. I didn’t merely strike them out. I added to them and apologized.

  • The mod attempted to fix the rules to cater to an obsessive pedant (you), and you’re STILL raging?

He changed the rules after I made this post. Same with the title edits. I went to go copy the rules while I was writing this post and noticed that they changed. This all happened at the same time. You’re narrative is all backwards.

Changing the rules doesn’t absolve him for banning me. The fact that he finally added the “Not OC” rule means my comment was justified, and my ban was not!

    and you’re STILL raging?

I’m not raging in this post at all. And I didn’t rage in my comment that got banned.

    your post/comment history

If you looked at my history, what did you see that makes you say that?

Was it my recent anger over someone telling me I have “problems”. That comment was pretty assholish, but it also has 10 upvotes and not one downvote. I really do feel it was righteous anger, and a warranted reply. That person completely dismissed my own experience, and basically told me to never speak of it again.

Or was it about that 3D printed camera? I guess that was assholish. I dunno. Edit: No, it definitely was, and I just apologized to those involved.

  • I feel very weird calling old games that I thought of as retro “vintage” now, but I guess I have to.

Nah. Maybe? Even I call them retro games sometimes. My favorite gaming hardware YouTube channel is called “Retro Game Corps”. It what gamers call them. Depending on who I’m addressing, I use either.

Like I said in my original comment, I was mostly being pedantic. Then again, if the entire gaming world shifted to calling them “vintage games”, I’d be thrilled. Someone recently started a thread here titled “What’s your favorite vintage game?” And I did a “Not bad Obama” face and nod.

    in Victoria, Australia…

Well, yeah! I expect everything be upsidedown and backwards there! 😜

Now I’m curious how the Macquarie Dictionary defines the word. I can’t search it myself because it requires a login.

  • When people are calling modern things they know are modern “retro”, I think it’s just a simpler form of saying “retro-style”.

“People” in general? No. Only certain gamers.

It seems like you missed the entire point of my comment, and you’re the exact kind of person I’m talking about. A person who has no idea what retro means. You are using it wrong. And by wrong I mean unlike everybody else in the world.

This is what people mean when they say retro, (except you and some other gamers):

relating to, reviving, or being the styles and especially the fashions of the past : fashionably nostalgic or old-fashioned

    a retro look

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/retro

Saying retro style is redundant. Retro is already referring to style.

“Retro”, which to me indicates its actual age.

The word you’re looking for is “vintage”. Retro means in the style of the past.
