Honestly, there’s plenty of reasons to make fun of boomers/millennial/genZ but the reality is each generation has Republican and Democrat voters.

I’m not gonna suggest that Democrats always have the best interests of working class people in mind - but their camp does contain progressives, which is something that Republicans lack entirely.

At the end of the day, all our problems can be traced to income inequality that is largely pushed by Republicans (and a huge dose of “trusted media” espousing outright lies).

You can absolutely have a business oriented economy whose government protects it’s people from abusive and predatory businesses practices while providing great education and healthcare for free.

It’s something we’d all benefit from (even the wealthy, but it’d be less profitable) but something we’ll never have because every generation has Republican voters who show up 100% of the time - and Democrat voters who barely show up, can’t agree on anything, and require emotional inspiration to even begin to participate in politics.

In fact, now that we’re literally watching Nazis take over the Republican party - anyone from any generation who votes Republican now is far worse than anyone who voted R in the past before the middle class was destroyed.

The Republican party is evolving into its final form of purest facisim, something that was plausibly deniable 10 years ago.

Bottom line is we’re at a point in society where feelings and opinions are the only reality for a lot of people. It will be the death of democracy, and they’ll go to their graves in chains they put on themselves believing they made the right choice, because why would anyone ever choose to feel regret or acknowledge the consequences of their own actions?

I’ve heard rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle works great for killing most bugs, but I’ve never tried it on a hive so they might get big mad before they’re immobilized/die

Adding one or two drops of dish soap to a large spray bottle of rubbing alcohol can make it stick to bugs better, making it more effective. Far safer than poison based pest control too!

So many videogames I enjoyed just ended before last boss

Decent job with lots of down time, and I desperately want to want to learn more things and give myself potential for career advancement and some job flexibility. Like I really want to be able to do it, but I just can’t bring myself to start because I don’t need to, even though I like learning new things.

Even when I complete a home project, or accomplish a life goal, it’s just kind of… Meh? Well that’s done I guess?

There’s also a constant battle of feeling anxious in most social settings, but feeling guilty/lonely without them. Almost like juggling two things you don’t particularly like, trying to find the balance where you’re least mentally uncomfortable.

It’s great having videogames, but you can only do something so much before everything starts to feel formulaic and unfulfilling.

There is always a feeling or sensation that I should/could be doing something else unless I’m hyper fixated on something

Because people don’t hate getting scammed by their scam artist.

Conservatives also tend to make politics a core part of their identity, which allows conservative governments to get away with doing everything they accuse Liberals of doing mostly without consequences.

Canada has some of the most apathetic voters in the world, so I don’t expect anything in this country to improve anytime soon.

People will simply trade getting screwed by the letters L/C and be certain they are one election away from all of their problems going away.

Shame we never considered bringing in construction workers as we process over a million new immigrants a year.

Since most grocers in Canada have internalized a large portion of the supply chain (and don’t have to really compete with each other since there aren’t many options) they have several ways to affect prices at multiple points in the supply chain.

“we only make 3% profits at retail!” while they jack up farm cost, processing cost, warehouse cost, distribution cost, etc etc. They are picking up profits from themselves, but counting it at a cost to obfuscate their margins as only being obtained once its bought at the end of the supply line (retail)

You can nationalize food by knowing how much real costs are throughout the supply chain and capping costs for consumers either through policy, or by mandating that prices for groceries are set by the government.

It can still be operated by a private business, but they would have to stop unlimited profits at the expense of the population for guaranteed, smaller profits to the benefit of everyone who eats food.

Let me tell ya, if I had the option to eat a capitalism apple at $8/each, or the same nationalized apple for $1/each I’m eating the nationalized apple.

The general population seems to hate taxes (mostly because the wealthy don’t actually pay taxes and also receive subsidies) - but somehow don’t associate profiteering as a wealth Tax that never returns to the public like real taxes, and instead often defend a businesses prerogative to profit seek, even at their own detriment.

Public taxes that pay for social systems? Bad!

Private taxes (excess profits) that exclusively benefit the wealthy? Good!

The idea that it’s better to have single/few entities profiting instead of every Canadian benefitting is ridiculous.

Nobody is saying you can’t be profitable and wealthy if you run a successful business.

But that’s not what Canada is about, what we have in Canada is collusion and price fixing by like 8 businesses that own nearly everything in Canada completely unchecked.

Awwwwh, but I wanted a peanut!

After reading the fairly uninformative article, it sounds like the deepfake video recommend a platform that looked legit, but was essentially a one way black hole for people’s money. It showed them fake numbers climbing to get them to invest more - not just JT recommending crypto, which is actually kind of a shame.

Buying bitcoin last November (2023) would be one of the best times to buy as it’s basically doubled since.

Yes, Canada not selling arms to Israel isn’t going to do much of anything on the ground - but that’s not entirely the point.

The point is, when you know your government is doing something horrible (that they still want to do) protesting the individuals who make up government absolutely has tangible results.

If we want our politicians to actually prioritize healthcare, education, infrastructure, cost of living, national defence, unions, wage gaps, break up monopolies/oligopoly there is only one path.

Take a page out of Palestinian playbook and collectively organize against government officials. Where they live, their meetings, events, their families etc. Protest the politicians existence and go after them in court constantly

Make the individual politicians and their families lives miserable until they act like they give enough of a shit about you that you’re satisfied with their efforts.

Canada is one of the most politically apathetic yet wealthy countries on earth. We collectively let ourselves be robbed and crushed by neoliberalism, and have next to 0 civic comprehension or participation.

The belief that voting or paying attention to politics and government action is useless is blatantly wrong.

Every current problem is a direct result of intentional action by politicians and government policy, and the only way it happens is voter apathy.

We deserve the government we have because we allow them to act unchecked.

I wish we could spring forward forever!
