Relative to its time, yes, but Sims 3 is peak Sims. It improved on 2 in every way, but the thing they did the best and left out of 4 was the create a style tool, which allows you to make any surface any texture and colour you like. You could have a wooden sweater and metal carpet. No limits. You could make uncanny replicas of most homes, furnishings and all.

I haven’t played the second one, but in the first you were never not aware you are in a videogame. It was a nonsensical labyrinth of gimmicks. It is a 3D metroidvania, almost. It really sucked the life out of the story so I’m in no rush to play the sequel. I’ll be bored and it’ll be on sale one day and I’ll try it.

  • TNG was being first aired throughout my childhood and I would catch the odd episode here and there when I got to stay up and watch it with my parents to guide me, as suggested. But I didn’t get into Trek properly until I worked in construction as a labouror, my first job. When there’s no work, there’s daytime TV re-runs. The Space Network, the Canadian version of The Sci-Fi Channel, would run 2 TNGs back to back from 12-2. I got way into it then. I then watched all the series’. Now, every year or two, I’ll just throw on the first episode of TOS and go right until the end of the whole franchise in mostly air date order. I even have a playlist that has all of the overlapling seasons from the 90s to play as one big series, playing each episode by air date/chronological order based on a chronology I found online. Keeps it spicy.

  • Overhearing people talk is not eavesdropping. Listening more closely because the conversation is a break in your trust is natural, if they try to pull a “but you were eavesdropping!” tell them if they want a private conversation then to have it in a private place, not a communal area in earshot of the hall outside your room.

Did you make it clear this was confidential, or was it just assumed? If you explicitly told them to keep it secret and they did not, then say just what you said here. You happened to be coming down for a cup of tea when you overheard a betrayal of your confidence. If you are frustrated, let that give a backbone and set a firm boundary, but don’t let it put words in your mouth and start saying things that will make them defensive. As soon as someone puts their guard up, the conversation is not going to go anywhere productive.

If you didn’t explicitly tell your mom this was to be kept under wraps for now, then lesson learned. You need to have a polite conversation with her and everyone she told that this is personal info not to be shared. Always explicitly set boundaries, assumptions never work, even doctors and therapists sometimes eff up and assume someone knows more than you want them to and spill the beans.

No matter what, your family loves you and only wants you to succeed in life. Spilling your tea was likely done out of an effort to help you in the big picture, misguided or not. For me, once I was comfortable sharing my neurodivergence with my family, life got easier as they were able to take that into account in our relationship. But I understand it’s your call, and if you need to come to terms with your diagnosis first, that’s perfect reasonable and those in the loop should be made aware of how hurtful it is to betray that trust. Nothing a polite but firm conversation can’t solve.

I’d watch an Anakin/Wolverine show. First half, anakin gets sent to Northern Alberta with nothing but his wits. He meets up with Logan, after a few episodes as rivels they work together and become friends. Second half, the figure out how to get anakin back, Logan comes with, gets lightsaber claws.

  • Let’s get the cops to strip everyone naked at every traffic stop without any probable cause because that’s how good justice works? Our police need no reason to strip you naked? No.

If the cops thought he had drugs on him, there is due process. But they tried to use the sound of plastic rustling as their probable cause, which is not a valid justification by a long way. This guy could be in prison for drug charges if these cops followed the laws in place to protect us. But because the cops cut corners and curtailed a man’s rights in the process, any evidence is unusable. This man’s freedom, despite being a drug dealing piece of shit, is 100% the cops fault, they know this is illegal but did it anyway. They set him free with their own incompetence.
