Pretty confident in my solve. The only ones I didn’t get myself were 20-down, 29-down (obvious in retrospect), and 21-across (inferred the word, but didn’t know the tool).

Rust takes a lot of inspiration from functional languages, but I wouldn’t call it a functional language itself. But yeah, not suited to every application.

What do you find not great about mouse/keyboard GNOME? All the gestures I know have pretty simple mouse and keyboard equivalents. So far I just gesture three fingers up/down/left/right, which I can do on a keyboard with super/alt-super-left/alt-super-right or on a mouse with hot-corner/corner-click/corner-scroll. If there’s a gesture I’m missing out on please let me know, I always like to learn new tricks.

I haven’t had to use any application like that in a while, though I’m sure you’re right that they exist. Could you give me an example of an application feature that’s only accessible from the system tray?

They’re still working on it, and if it’s been a while since you last checked they may have already implemented the ones you wanted.

I think it’s because some Microsoft computer had a dedicated button so you could do things like Office+W or Office+P (or apparently Office+L), but they had to make it use an actual keyboard input so they used a string of modifiers that wouldn’t be used by accident.

About #3, do you view this as a hard rule? Not the animal part (vegan btw), the “hurting is always wrong” part. There are situation where I’ve caused harm to someone for the sake of others, their future, or a greater pleasure.

Also interested in the “not killing you own species” section of #4. I would also kill another animal rather than a human, but for other reasons. What do you think about hurting a member of your own species is uniquely bad?

Ownership isn’t a scientific concept though. It’s a social construct which never depended on permanence.

How could you convince a solipsist of that? It seems impossible to disprove the position “I am imagining that anything outside my consciousness is real”. Anything you cite as evidence is premised on the conclusion.

Yeah, I don’t know that it solves much, but it’s rather tidy to take the one think we know exists (consciousness) and fit it into a fundamental question (what makes up the universe).

The app is saying that it can’t communicated with the device, and the Wifi is working fine, so It seems to be an app issue rather than a device issue. Do you have any insights?

I’ve tried factory resetting the router, and have reinstalled the app several times. I think I’ve gotten, if not to the source, than further down the chain.

1. Port Management requires cloud services, which is why it redirects me to the place where I can enable that.
2. However when I try enabling it, it is “Unable to save settings.”
3. I tried to “Restart entire network” which revealed that it is “Unable to communicate with your network at this time.”

And that’s the core thing I don’t know how to get around. The app can’t actually interact with the network. That explains why restarting the network hasn’t fixed it in the past. I don’t understand how it could be an issue only I have though, since it happens regardless of reinstalling the app.

I have the same app version and my account has “Manager” permissions, which seems like it should be enough by the description.

Are there other types of permission?

Just because it’s always said doesn’t mean it isn’t sometimes true. Can’t you think of examples of views that were fringe but became the moral baseline?

Not OC, but my primary computer is currently at 79 after a bit over a year of use.
