Oh I agree, Freud’s work was important. As was Aristotle’s. But if Aristotle had suffered much of the scrutiny that Freud has, science would have advanced a lot faster. Obviously extremely unlikely though, given that Aristotle kinda predated science.

A lot of what he said was just plain wrong, and without the existence of the scientific method back then, no one really questioned him. For example, he basically made the only argument justifying slavery in ancient times, and he notably also got a lot of physics wrong that took until Galileo’s time to get resolved, such as with gravity and the elements.

If only people did that to Aristotle…

As someone who speaks Cantonese, it’s more that Cantonese has six tones, rather than similar-sounding vowels. People who don’t know how tonal languages work are prone to fucking it up, cuz we have relatively quite a lot amongst the more popular languages. Plus the large number of homophones cuz of the monosyllablism of Chinese languages where each syllable has its own character, you get a lot of context-dependent words. Also makes for some puns, but yeah.

where tf, the ones i think i can do that around turns out i can’t cuz they never tell me where their boundaries are and then get annoyed when i breach them cuz i have no idea where they are

I learnt this in Scouting! not really a useful tip except in specific situations, but good to know in those specific situations!

I mean, that’s to a minor extent how parliamentary systems work. There’s a limit on how long you can go without an election, sure, but the government can call one basically whenever they want, which means if they have a stronger mandate they’ll probably try to stretch it out whereas if they barely have a government yet the people support them they may try another election to increase their standing, and if you have a flimsier support you may end up being vote-of-no-confidence-ed sooner

Yeah that’s one possibility I considered and tbh is probably most likely given like, I don’t think I did anything wrong? But I’d hope not, would definitely rather I made a mistake…

I try to do that yeah, but problem is that every friendship that I try that with basically has always died out the instant I leave that environment, like when I lost basically all my friends graduating from high school. It’s not that they don’t care about other people as well, just me it feels like… That’s also why I’ve been DMing a group for D&D though.
