If command was just the control key moved over I wouldn’t have a problem with it, the issue is that the control key still exists and is used in a lot of applications, often inconsistently. It’s a constant frustration to me when I hit the wrong one either due to muscle memory or simply because I forgot how each specific application is set up.

The argument for separation the command and control keys isn’t entirely wrong as using the control key for gui shortcuts was always a bit of a hack, but OSX doesn’t actually have any way to enforce the separation there, so it just makes the user experience worse in 3rd party applications which weren’t written primarily for OSX, which is unfortunately the case for most applications I use.

The command/control split is a constant source of annoyance. I really wish they would just abandon that one and get with the rest of the world.

I recently agonized over this decision a bit and went with a Bambu. When it comes down to it, the prusa printers are just really hard to justify given that you are paying more money for fewer features even if you assemble it yourself.

I agree with what others have said that the reliability and longevity of Bambu printers is a concern, but frankly if I’m still into printing in a number of years and Bambu starts to really enshitify, I’ll build a Voron or get something even better that hasn’t come out yet.

I’m not sure you could go to most hospitals and get an MRI just because. Diagnostic tests still carry risks, especially MRIs given how strong the magnetic field is and that you can’t easily turn them off.

I mean I would definitely consider it in poor taste if a woman started making tone deaf jokes about male suicide rates. You get a lot more leeway when making fun of a group you are a part of. You combine that with the general assumption that everyone on the internet is male until proven otherwise, and yeah in this kind of forum it’s much more acceptable to make jokes at the expense of men than women.

There’s also a bit of a disparity in the examples you gave. The idea that men die earlier because they take medical advice from Joe Rogan is obviously not made in sincerity. The overwhelming majority of men have never listened to Joe Rogan and besides a few high profile examples I don’t think he actually gives that much medical advice. Though it would be harmful if people genuinely believed this was true, it doesn’t seem likely that anyone would.

On the other hand, Women being worse workers due to emotions or their periods or whatever is something a lot of people genuinely believe. In some circles those statements wouldn’t be considered jokes but rather serious opinions. Repeating those things, even if you don’t personally believe then, reinforces the ideas and is clearly harmful to women.

A similarly offensive “joke” at men’s expense would be something like “men die earlier because they’re too stupid to see a doctor”. This would be a bad joke, because it’s taking something which is basically true, men don’t see doctors as frequently, and tying it to a real and harmful stereotype, men are dumber than women.

It’s punching down. You can make jokes like that and nobody is going to punish you for it but they will think you’re a jackass.

Unity has been rent seeking for awhile. In my mind, a big issue is the unity asset store, which apparently is where they actually make most of their money. Unity collects a 30% cut of all sales and imposes pretty restrictive licensing terms. This is annoying, but not a huge deal for things like art assets, but it creates a huge perverse incentive when you look at plugins and tools.

The best way for unity to make money in the business model they’ve created is to add a bunch of seemingly simple but not very comprehensive systems to the engine. Then, rather than refine these features they can wait for 3rd party developers to fill in the gaps with plugins that must be sold on the unity asset store. This allows unity to scoop up a bigger revenue stream on top of the licensing income without having to do any additional work.

I don’t see this being sustainable

It really depends on how you’re using unity. If you’re dependent on a lot of the built in components or asset store plugins or the rendering pipeline you’re going to have a hard time.

I’m sure someone will try, but it seems nearly impossible to do this in a way that’s actually useful. Most game engines are going to have fundamental differences that won’t easily map to the unity way of doing things

My car lives outside and I literally don’t do anything to it besides oil changes and occasional tire replacements. If all you have is a daily driver you really don’t need a garage.

Wouldn’t it be more environmentally friendly to store your cars outside and not have a garage?

And starfield itself is useless without a huge stack of technology that someone else made. That’s just how software works.
