Every time I hear about eve, I remember how much I wished it was a slightly different game. There is no way to play eve without investing many hours each time. Everything takes a very long time.

On the plus side, just the feeling that someone may come up and kill you and take your stuff makes the game feel quite scary. I was doing wormholes for a while and pretty much was constantly nervous about getting killed. Never happened though.

Not anymore… This was true in 2010 guys. :)

I played this game growing up, was quite fun. Difficult, I don’t know if I actually understood what I was doing. Probably not.

I liked the article. I didn’t interpret it as “everyone must do what I say”. It was simply a viewpoint from a person on the internet. That is what a blog is.

The complexity of tech stacks have increased enormously in the last 10 years, and it’s only sane to see what tradeoffs we are making to be able to scale easily. Perhaps it’s not worth the trouble for 90% of us. If we follow best practice from cloud providers without thinking for ourselves, we will not learn to think for ourselves either.

So let’s do that. Let’s think, wrote blogs, discuss, and allow for discussions. Don’t shut people down.

This is a hobby project, but it’s nice to see work going on. You would need some Linux Torvalds of Browsers to get something that can compete with Firefox or Chrome though…

If you look at games that get overwhelmingly positive on steam, most of them have only ok graphics and they cost like 30 dollars. It’s the feeling of the game that matters. Is it fun?

I’m a bit older than you but I feel that games have stagnated. It’s the same games over and over again with some exceptions.

I had this book… Threw it out of years ago because every time I moved house, it was a pain to pack and deal with lots of boxes of geeky books.

Besides, most of it is outdated now. New users probably should learn systemd rather than startup scripts.

I think gaming in general have it hard now. There are millions of games and only a handful are best sellers.

I feel the same about movies. So many, but just a few are worth watching because they are original.
