I’ve marked the video as NSFW only because he talks about some things that are gruesome. But no gore is actually shown.
Really interesting, thanks for sharing.
There’s also a documentary by Popular Front (who does a lot of on the ground videos of protests, wars, etc) of the creator of that 3D printed gun (the fgc9) who is now dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlB2QV5wVxg
I get how they’re printing their guns, but how do they get ammunition? Do they make it themselves as well? Isn’t that more difficult than printing the actual guns?
In the video they mention how these firearms use 9mm ammunition which is one of the most common pistol ammunitions to come across. As far as making each round, it can be done as well using casings and other materials too but I don’t remember them addressing it in the video. Not sure if they’re doing that, but it may be more likely that they chose this model because of the 9mm variant because it’s much more common to come across in their area than other ammunition.
But another thing the video alludes to is that these are sort of something for getting an upgrade in weaponry. 3D printed firearms aren’t really reliable long term, especially these since they are mostly 3D printed and other parts aren’t designed for firearms. So the idea is that these weapons will help the rebels win more battles/skirmishes and then take better weaponry and ammunition in those battles to upgrade away from the 3D printed guns. Kind of like an investment they hope grows into something else.
